I am writing to thank you for the motivational maps
that you have set up for the staff here at Reigate St Mary’s and for the feedback consultations following on from these questionnaires. They have been extremely valuable for a number of reasons. Firstly this helps the staff to think outside the box, to really look at their satisfaction levels in the workplace and to consider their own professional development as well as identifying potential problem areas. As a management team we can be aware of these areas to help resolve issues that are outstanding or anticipate potential problems in the future. Secondly, staff generally like an opportunity to talk about themselves and have valued the fact that the school has invested in them. There is rarely time for staff to meet with management and talk about personal professional issues and therefore your meetings with the staff created a good launch pad for our performance reviews during which discussion points raised between you and the member of staff have been most valuable for both school and individual development plans. Thirdly, some of the staff have found the maps to be surprisingly accurate, for others they have helped them to look a little deeper and to initiate some personal development or discussions about management opportunities which neither they or I would have considered had it not been for the consultations. So far these have been extremely valuable and I am looking forward to all of the staff completing their maps. They are motivating in themselves and are helping me see potential and see needs which helps us all

During a recent, internal interview for Vice Principal, I was impressed that candidates (who had completed a Motivational Map earlier in the term) brought their personal analysis and recommendations and referred to their personal reports to indicate to the Board of Governors their rationale and proposals for their future ambitions for the College.
